Boys & Girls Club of Frederick County

girls on couchThe Boys & Girls Club of Frederick County’s mission is:  To enable all youth, especially those who need us most, to become productive, caring, responsible citizens.
The club does this by:

  • Providing a positive place for the youth of Frederick County to form relationships with caring adults
  • Giving youth in constructive outlets for their energy and creativity
  • Creating opportunities for members to succeed physically, socially, & academically.

It is one of the few places they can go in life where they feel truly welcomed, cared for, safe, accepted, and included. It is a place where they willingly receive and openly seek guidance from adults who care.

The Women's Giving Circle of Frederick County

Karlys Kline, Founder; Pat Hanberry, MHA; Marlene Young, Grants ChairpersonThe members of The Women's Giving Circle of Frederick County support the shared understanding that encouragement and financial assistance are compelling factors in restoring stability and hope.  They focus on improving the circumstances of women and children in our community through targeted contributions.  They are an embracing, open organization that currently has over 125 voting members in addition to many other contributors.

In it's first two years of existance The Giving Circle has bestowed grants totalling $140,000. It also has a substantial endowment fund at The Community Foundation of Frederick County, where their combined efforts and contributions make it possible to have a bigger impact.  The grants have helped to start new programs, provide emergency funding and assist with capital improvements for existing non-profits.

The Arc of Frederick County

Arc members: John Baker, Bryan Saal, Grant KelseyThe Arc of Frederick County provides individually designed support services and collaborates with the community to build inclusive programs for adults and children with developmental disabilities.  Founded by parents in 1958 because community programs for children and adults with disabilities did not exist, The Arc continues to be a leader in advocacy efforts and the creation of new services for families today. This year is the 50th anniversary of The Arc of Frederick County, Inc.
